Monica Quintero is the morning weather forecaster for "Wake Up Central Coast." She has an interesting background including 12 years of experience in the television industry and she's done it all. She's served as a main anchor, television host, weather forecaster, producer, reporter, traffic anchor and enjoys being involved in all aspects of the business. Monica also never meets a stranger and says that's one of the best parts of the job.
Along with being a weather forecaster, she's also a Director of Promotions and Marketing for Skyline Flower Growers. The company grows and sells flowers all over the United States. While she's known for her work in front of the camera, she's done just as much behind the scenes. She's a photographer, edits videos and creates websites.
Prior to coming back to the Central Coast, she was a Main Anchor for a station in Oklahoma City where in 2008 she was honored with the Excellence in Communication Media Award. The Oklahoma Department of Rehabilitation Services gives the award each year to one deserving journalist. Monica also made stops in Wichita, Kansas and Houston, Texas where she was an anchor and reporter. She believes no matter what job she's doing, it's about helping bring people together as well as to build lasting relationships.
She is semi-fluent in Spanish and very proud of her Latin roots. She was born and raised in Spring, Texas and holds a Bachelors Degree in Radio/Television and a minor in Marketing from the University of Houston. She was also very involved in her college and was Student Body President, a varsity cheerleader and President of her sorority, Chi Omega.
In her free time, Monica enjoys spending time with her two dogs-- Honey and Chugs. Honey is a Teacup Chihuahua and Chugs is a Chihuahua/Pug mix. She also loves to do anything outdoors such as hiking, going to the beach and even 4-wheeling. She's also on the Santa Maria Young Professionals Board and serves as Vice President.
