Congress avoids Homeland Security shutdown

The House approved a one-week extension of funding for the Department of Homeland Security, sending the proposal to the White House and avoiding a partial shutdown just hours before the Friday night deadline.

Santa Barbara Police have been at the scene of a homicide in an industrial area of the city since approximately 6:53 a.m. Tuesday when police officers, City firefighters and paramedics responded to the emergency call.
