A strong, shallow earthquake devastated towns in central Italy early Wednesday, killing at least 73 people and placing rescuers in a desperate race against time to try to rescue survivors from the rubble.
The Rey fire has grown to 34,255 acres but it is also now at 35% containment with most of the active fire in the north east side of the fire zone above the Cachuma Lake and the Gibraltar Reservoir watershed.
Three suspects have been arrested at gunpoint on State Highway 154 after allegedly committing multiple felony offenses including an armed robbery. The crimes reportedly occurred in the Santa Ynez Valley. Full details have yet to be released.
