Tipline Investigation Leads To State Probe

State officials are asking the Department of Justice to investigate the owner of a former Oxnard group home for troubled teens.

A series of Key News investigative reports into Michael Garrett and the Milestone Group Home raised serious concerns in Sacramento about the Department of Social Services and its licensing process.

We exposed how the state gave Garrett, a convicted felon, a license to run the home.

Milestone board members then accused Garrett of spending taxpayer money, almost 330-thousand dollars, on himself instead of the kids.

The state shutdown the home in February, 2010 after Garrett refused to cooperate with an audit.
